SUMMARY:Lean Transformations: A Strategy for Managing Change--Dr. Darlene Dumont
DESCRIPTION:Special CILC Session\nLean Transformations: A Strategy for Managing Change–Dr. Darlene Dumont \nMany Lean transformations stall not because the tools fail\, but because the people side of change is underestimated. \nIn this special session for the Continuous Improvement Lean Collaborative (CILC) community\, Dr. Darlene Dumont shares one of her most requested topics: how to intentionally design and lead the change management side of a Lean transformation. \nDrawing on organizational design principles\, Lean problem-solving\, and decades of hands-on transformation work\, this session will explore how successful Lean journeys balance the technical system (process\, tools\, project management) with the human system (mindsets\, behaviors\, communication\, and capability building). \nParticipants will learn:\n• Why Lean transformations are fundamentally culture and behavior shifts\, not implementation projects\n• How to align purpose\, process\, people\, and structures throughout the transformation journey\n• What leaders must do before\, during\, and after change to build trust and sustain momentum\n• How communication plans\, training strategies\, and management systems reinforce Lean thinking\n• Common pitfalls that derail transformations and how to avoid them \nDr. Darlene Dumont\, Ph.D.\, LSSBB\nPresident & CEO\, A Better Culture (ABC)\, LLC \nDr. Darlene Dumont is a recognized Lean transformation leader\, executive advisor\, and change management expert with more than 30 years of experience guiding organizations through complex\, people-centered change. She has led and supported transformations across healthcare\, financial services\, manufacturing\, public service\, insurance\, aerospace\, academia\, and government. \nThis event is no cost.  Recorded video of the session is at the URL below.

SUMMARY:The Missing Link in Modern Construction: The End-User Experience Using 3P\, Lean\, and AI to Move from End-User Input to End-User Testing
DESCRIPTION:Most builders would say they involve end-users in the design process\, and many do. But talking with end-users about a design is very different from giving them the opportunity to experience and test it before it is built. \nIn this CILC Special Session\, Dr. Darlene Dumont will explore how 3P (Production\, Preparation\, Process) takes end-user engagement to another level. Rather than relying primarily on drawings\, renderings\, meetings\, or digital models\, 3P brings end-users\, designers\, builders\, and owners together to create full-scale\, low-cost prototypes of proposed spaces. End-users can then walk through the environment\, simulate their actual work\, move equipment\, test handoffs\, and identify problems that may be difficult to recognize on paper or a screen. \nThe session will also explore how AI-supported scenario testing and digital-twin capabilities could extend this learning. AI can help teams generate and compare additional “what-if” scenarios such as changes in traffic patterns\, staffing or occupancy\, material movement\, equipment placement\, accessibility\, safety\, or future operational needs\, before deciding what should be physically tested and validated with end-users. \nTogether\, ERP\, Lean\, 3P\, and AI can create a richer learning loop: ERP provides the digital backbone and project data; Lean helps identify waste and improve flow; 3P allows end-users to physically experience and test the proposed environment; and AI can expand the range of scenarios considered. \nThe goal is not simply to ask whether the end-user was involved\, but whether the end-user was given the opportunity to actually experience and test the design. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nThe difference between gathering end-user input and allowing end-users to physically experience and test a design\nHow full-scale\, low-cost prototypes\, walkthroughs\, and work simulations can reveal issues that drawings\, meetings\, and digital models may not\nHow 3P brings the people closest to the work into the design process before costly decisions become difficult or impossible to change\nHow poor layout and flow can contribute to unnecessary movement\, safety risks\, rework\, delays\, and long-term operational friction\, costs\, and workarounds\nHow AI-supported scenario testing can expand the range of possibilities considered before physical prototyping\nHow ERP\, Lean\, 3P\, and AI can work together to strengthen the end-user experience\n\nWho should attend: \nConstruction and project leaders\, owners\, architects and designers\, operations and facilities leaders\, Lean/continuous improvement practitioners\, and anyone involved in designing environments where people and work must flow effectively. \nPresenter: \nDr. Darlene Dumont\, Ph.D.\, LSSBB | President & CEO\, A Better Culture (ABC)\, LLC \n  \nRegister at this link: The Missing Link in Modern Construction \n
